The Harvest:

Black Excellence Dinner

The year 2020 will forever be a year to remember. It invited some of our lowest lows and it also made room for some of our highest highs. Many of those high’s came in the 4th quarter for me — we closed out the year as a profitable company considering it being our first year operating our new space (and needed to close our doors for over 5 months due to the pandemic), both I and my business partner being named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Social Impact category, and last but not least, I was selected as one of six entrepreneurs across the country to be profiled by T-Mobile in a documentary series about Black entrepreneurship.

T- Mobile sent an incredible film crew to Philadelphia for 3 days to follow my journey and share my story as a young Black business-builder in Philadelphia.

The one element of the experience that was hard to show them in a pandemic world was the social scene. To make up for this, I wanted to create a safe experience for some of my favorite community leaders to come together to connect, be celebrated, and share ideas for future social change.

On Sunday, December 13th I hosted a “Meeting of the Minds”-style dinner at The Deacon with The Harvest 215 to gather 15 of Philadelphia's young, successful creative entrepreneurs and artists to celebrate their recent accomplishments, and create space to cultivate conversation that would inspire their next few.

The Harvest is a culinary dining experience hosted in a secret location in Philadelphia. Our guests were delighted with a 3-course dinner prepared by Celebrity Chef, Kiadenise paired with a handcrafted cocktail bar by Sip Lightly, floral accents & decor by Cierra Jaye’ of Thrilla Seven, live music by cellist, Aijee and vibes throughout the night were supplied by DJ Joshua Lang of BWC Sound.

Our backdrop for the conversation was intentional as well. We were welcomed with open arms to The Deacon, a renovated historical site that is home to the country's first African Baptist Church, where many Black Freedom Fighters of the early 1900s organized.

The evening’s conversation prompt:

“What’s one small thing or moment that’s caused a huge impact on your life?”

The thoughtful sentiments shared at this month’s dinner will be the inspiration for our next service project with support from ALLBIRDS & The All Good Collective.

Stay tuned for updates and more info on how to get involved!
